Mathias Eick - trompeta
Gjermund Larsen - vioara
Jon Balke - pian
Mats Eilertsen - contrabas
Helge Norbakken - percutie
Eick has a beautiful tone and writes attractive themes, by turns haunting and energetic. The inclusion of folk violinist Gjermund Larsen in the band adds a contrasting texture and some truly exciting solos. [ Dave Gelly, The Observer ]
1998
Keith Jarrett - pian
ecmreviews:
"The Melody At Night, With You was my first Keith Jarrett solo album. And perhaps it was in a way for Jarrett, too. It interprets some of the greatest names in the American songbook—Duke Ellington, the Gershwins, Oscar Hammerstein and Jerome Kern, Oscar Levant, among others—yet tells their stories as if we’ve never heard them before. More than just another standards album in absence of his trio, this is the pianist at his purest. He approaches the music as a composer approaches a blank staff: which is to say, with wonder.

Charles Lloyd - saxofon tenor
John Abercrombie - chitara
Dave Holland - contrabas
Billy Higgins - tobe, percutie
Charles Lloyd's sixth ECM album is both a departure and a homecoming for the Memphis-born and California-based tenorist, introducing new music and revisiting archive favourites (including the epic 'Forest Flower'), and featuring an all-star line-up. With his 'Scandinavian' band currently on hold, this is Lloyd's first all-American album in a long while - Dave Holland qualifies as an honorary American by now - with all the differences of cultural emphasis that this implies. ECM veteran John Abercrombie and legendary drummer Billy Higgins are in great form throughout as they lock in with Lloyd to tackle material ranging from Billy Strayhorn's 'A Flower Is A Lovesome Thing' to the Elvis Costello/Burt Bacharach-penned 'God Give Me Strength' or dig deep into the roots music of the 'Island Blues Suite'.

Pat Metheny - chitara acustica si electrica
Charlie Haden - contrabas
Jack DeJohnette - tobe
Dewey Redman - saxofon tenor
Michael Brecker - saxofon tenor
AllMusicGuide : "Pat Metheny's credibility with the jazz community went way up with the release of this package, a superb two-CD collaboration with a quartet of outstanding jazz musicians that dared to be uncompromising at a time when most artists would have merely continued pursuing their electric commercial successes. [...]
The two original LPs were organized so that the more distinctive Metheny fusions were on sides one and four and the overt jazz tracks occupied sides two and three."
