The Matrix Element P is presented as a high-end all-in-one device. Indeed, the latter is extremely versatile and takes on the roles of network drive, DAC and amplifier at the same time. All you need to do is combine a pair of passive speakers to enjoy a complete and extremely powerful HiFi system. Performance made possible by careful design but also by the integration of high-end components.
The Core
At the core of the Element P is a powerful ARM Freescale i.MX6 Quad Core processor, responsible for data processing. Matrix has also developed a high-quality audio system based on the Linux operating system. Unlike the brand's previous products, Element P has the ability to read files stored on your network or locally, while performing a powerful D/A conversion.
New generation USB interface
With the rapid development of high quality audio formats and the new user requirements inherent in these developments, Element P had to support many high resolution formats. Its USB interface XMOS XU216 allows it to read PCM files up to 768kHz and DSD up to DSD512. This interface also supports MQA files, a high quality format that is becoming more and more popular.
DAC ES9028Pro & Femtosecond Clock
The Element P is equipped with a digital-to-analog conversion chip ESS ES9028Pro. This DAC provides excellent audio performance with high-precision playback. It is associated with an ultra-low phase noise CCHD-950 femtosecond clock from Crystek, guaranteeing an extremely low jitter. A MUSES73320 chip allows precise control of the volume and cleanliness of the analog section.
ICEpower Digital amplification module
The amplification stage of the Element P is left to an ICEpower 250ASX2 module. This Class D amplifier from Denmark allows to deliver a consistent power with no less than 2x230W under 4Ω. The Element P can therefore be easily combined with many speaker models.
A complete & efficient connection system
The Matrix Element P takes advantage of its extensive connectivity, allowing many devices to be connected to it to create a versatile and high-performance audio system. There are two Toslink Optics, two Coaxial S/PDIF, one I2S HDMI LVDS input, one USB-B connector, two USB-A for your storage devices, one Micro SD slot and of course one RJ45 port. On the output side, there are simply stereo speaker terminals. The rear panel also features two antennas to improve WiFi signal reception.
AirPlay & DLNA
Today, media streaming via a local network has become commonplace. As a result, Matrix Element P supports DLNA and AirPlay protocols to allow you to stream your music directly from your smartphone or other compatible mobile device.
Control playback from your smartphone with MA Remote
For a simple and intuitive control of the Element P, Matrix has specially developed an Android application. This allows you to browse and launch your audio files, whether they are stored on storage devices connected to the device or your local network. Matrix will also provide regular updates to improve the user experience and develop an iOS version of the application.
MQA Support
MQA is a high-resolution audio coding method that allows you to obtain audio files with high sampling rates while reducing the size of these files. The Element P integrates the support of this technology, ideal for enjoying high quality audio streaming.
Strong linear power supply
Power supply is the entry point for all electrical / electronic devices and plays a major role, especially in the case of a high fidelity audio system. Matrix has therefore chosen to integrate in its Element P a linear power supply based on a Noratel custom toroidal transformer as well as Nichicon Audio Grade capacitors. There are also power separators and LDOs on a 4-layer PCB. This power supply provides the entire circuit with a clean electrical signal for a highly transparent sound.
Modern & minimalist design
The Element range from Matrix removes all unnecessary visual elements to offer a modern, minimalist and high-end aesthetic. The Element P thus presents simple lines in a CNC machined Aluminium casing. It will integrate seamlessly into a high-end HiFi system. The entire Matrix Element range has the same design, allowing an aesthetic combination of the different devices.
Shielded housing
As each material has its own resonance frequency, Element P was designed with a double structure. The inner shell uses galvanized metal folded with reinforcing ribs to ensure robustness in all conditions. The outer shell is made of 4mm thick Aluminium. The assembly of these two materials makes it possible to modify their resonance frequencies and reduce the negative impact of resonances on sound reproduction.
